Variables
Lark Sparrow
Occurred the most disproportionately in hexagons with July maximum
temperature (hex. max.) of 32-34 C and varied topography. In slightly
cooler regions (July maximum temperature [hex. max.] of 29-31 C),
its distribution corresponded with presence of wetlands and wet
shrublands along with either a relatively high road density or July
minimum temperature (hex. min.) of 6-10 C. In the driest parts of its
Oregon range, it occurred mostly in hexagons with some modified
grassland (Northeast Oregon) or, less often, with some grassland and
conifers interspersed. The logistic regression analysis showed positive
or negative association with big sagebrush shrubland, sagebrush
steppe, Douglas-fir - w. hemlock - red cedar forest, July maximum
temperature (hex. max.), and-to a lesser degree-topographic
variation, ponderosa pine forest, April precipitation (hex. min.), and
the extent of public land.
